Services Conscious sedation by inhalation (laughing gas) Conscious sedation by inhalation is a light sedation technique in which the patient remains conscious. It is a mix of oxygen and nitrous oxide, and it is both safe and effective. It is used to reduce anxiety among very nervous patients so that the dental procedure can be performed under the best of conditions. [^] Dental fillings without mercury or lead We no longer use gray mercury-based fillings. Scientific research has shown that these can emit toxic vapors which can be absorbed into the body. Mercury fillings can also cause teeth to crack. [^] Wisdom teeth removal Wisdom teeth extraction consists of removing the top and/or bottom third molars which are located at the very back of the jaw. Wisdom teeth should be removed for the following reasons: - if they are growing in the wrong direction, if they are impacted, or if they have caused or will cause pain, swelling or infection;
- if they are likely to affect the proper alignment of your teeth due to lack of space;
- if they are decayed and cannot be restored by traditional care. [^]
Cosmetic dentistry We offer a whole range of cosmetic dentistry options (white fillings, crowns, veneers, dental bridges and whitening), to help you show off your best smile. [^] Endodontics (root canal) When the pulp chamber located inside the root canal of the tooth becomes infected, the dentist must remove it with the help of small wire files. The treatment makes it possible to save the tooth. [^] Intra oral camera A picture is worth a thousand words... Some dental problems which we cannot feel or see ourselves can only be detected by a professional. This small camera can magnify images 20 to 30 times the actual size. The information from these photos can help you make the most informed decisions regarding treatment options. This technology also allows us to forward these pictures to your insurance company. Extra oral camera The before-and-after photos allow you to actually see the esthetic improvements from your dental treatment. [^] Digital X-rays Digital X-rays use 90% less radiation than traditional X-rays. These X-rays allow us to magnify details to help us make a more precise diagnosis in order to prescribe the most effective treatment. [^] Laser cavity detector Diagnodent is a fluorescent laser which helps us detect invisible tooth decay quickly and easily, thus allowing us to treat cavities at an early stage. The Diagnodent analyzes each tooth with a fluorescent light which looks different depending on whether the tooth is healthy or decayed. [^] Laser surgery An advantage of laser surgery is faster recovery time due to the biostimulation and anti-inflammatory effects which allows tissue to heal much faster than with traditional instruments. With laser surgery, there is also significantly less post-operative pain, and there is no gum swelling. [^] Microabrasion Certain tooth decay problems can be treated without anesthetic. Microabrasion is a procedure that is aimed directly at the cavity itself so that the healthy part of the tooth is protected as much as possible. The result is that the tooth is less fragile after treatment. Microabrasion is also used to prepare a tooth’s surface for a filling. It removes tiny particles from the tooth to ensure better bonding of filling material to the tooth or to the tooth enamel. [^] Cérec CEREC: a modern, durable, reliable and esthetical dental restoration. This unique technology allows us to place ceramic fillings and crowns with just one appointment. Ceramic crowns are metal-free and bio-compatible. It offers dental restorations that look and feel very much like a natural tooth. These dental restorations are guaranteed for 5 years, as long as patients respect their bi-annual dental exams and cleanings. [^] VELscope® The VELscope® is a revolutionary hand-held device that is used in conjunction with the traditional oral examination. The VELscope® makes it easier to see mucosal abnormalities, which are not always visible to the naked eye. Such abnormalities include cancerous tumors or pre-cancerous cells. [^] Whitening Enjoy a brighter smile! Teeth whitening is a very common technique used in cosmetic dentistry. Over the past several years, carbamide peroxide gel and hydrogen – the active agents – have been used in the treatment of gums. If you’re looking for immediate results, bleaching may be the right solution for you. In a very short time, your teeth will be whiter and more sparkling. The bleach may be used day or night. Your dentist will provide you with custom syringes containing the bleach that can be applied on your teeth. [^] Crowns on implants A dental implant is made of titanium and replaces the natural tooth root. First, the implant is placed into the jawbone in the location of the missing tooth. After the implant has had a chance to heal, the dentist places a crown on the root as though it were a natural root. With dental implants, one or several missing teeth can be replaced with crowns or fixed bridges. For patients who have removable dentures, implants can reinforce the denture to ensure that they are both effective and comfortable. [^] VENEERS Veneers are made of a resistant esthetic porcelain, the approximate thickness of a contact lens, which is applied to the surface of the tooth with the help of cosmetic ciment. Whether you are wanting to brighten or permanently whiten your teeth, this procedure will completely transform your smile. CAESY multimedia dental education system CAESY is a software offering photos and 3D animated presentations that clearly explain dental problems and procedures to patients. Topics include: Is treatment necessary? What are the treatment options? What takes places during treatment? What will happen if treatment is delayed? What care will be required after treatment? [^] Entertainment While you’re receiving treatment, we want you to have a relaxing experience. In each exam room, a ceiling-mounted television, and earphones are available. You can even watch a movie (bring your own, or choose from ours) or a television program while you’re receiving treatment! [^] |
